Races to Watch: Andy Meyer

Andy Meyer is a small business owner, working as a solo practitioner attorney. He concentrates his practice in Building and Housing Code issues, an area hit hard by the foreclosure crisis. He has utilized innovative legal tactics both in prosecution, while he was attorney for the City of Cleveland in the Code Enforcement Section, and in private practice while representing struggling property owners. Meyer is prepared to take the same passion he had fighting for his clients in the courtroom to the Statehouse.
“We need our state legislature to focus on creating jobs,” said Meyer. “We need new leadership to advance a common sense, entrepreneurial agenda and use our current assets to develop our region into an economic leader.”
As a former public substitute school teacher, Meyer also realizes that the future of Ohio is in education.
“Our community can’t afford the reckless and extreme cuts to education funding forced on our schools by the current administration, said Meyer. “As State Representative for the 16th House District, I will make sure parents, students and educators have the resources they need to prepare our young people for the future.”
Meyer lives in Rocky River, OH. He earned his undergraduate degree from Ohio University and his JD from University of Cincinnati College of Law. He is engaged to Harmony Hicks, who also lives in Rocky River.
